The Harrowing Story of Terry Jo Duperrault, Orphaned At Sea
In the fall of 1961, the Duperraults embarked on what was to be the vacation of a lifetime. The Wisconsin family was set to voyage on a sixty-foot sailboat named the Bluebelle, touring around the Bahamas for a week.
The Bluebelle was captained by a man named Julian Harvey, a bodybuilder, war hero and seemingly model seaman.
What transpired was not a dream vacation but a brutal, bloody episode that would leave the family’s young daughter Terry Jo orphaned and adrift on the open ocean in a life raft.
